EqualLogic Customer POC Part 2
March 14th, 2010To refresh your memory here is the link to Part 1
http://marcdell.blogspot.com/2010/02/equallogic-customer-poc-part-1.html
Last week I picked up my EqualLogic PS5000X array from the customer and the customer stated that they were able to see a 3x to 4x performance improvement in using a NAS Solution that included a Windows Server 2008 R2 Server “front ending” the EqualLogic PS5000X array versus the current NAS Solution that is in place.
When reviewing the SAN HQ data during this 1.5 week POC, we found that even with all the improved performance that the customer wasn’t leveraging more than 15% of the total maximum performance for IOPs and MB/s that a single PS5000X can handle.
The customer is planning to purchase (2) PS6000E’s, that is right SATA Drives, to (1) offload most of the current NAS Solution that is in place today and (2) move their current VMware ESX environment to.
I would definitely state that this was a very successful EqualLogic POC.
